After a while you learn… by Veronica A. Shoffstall (1971)

Pure Nourishment

After some time you learn the difference,
The subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning,
And company doesn’t always mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts,
And presents aren’t promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats,
With your head up and your eyes ahead,
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn,
That even the sun burns if you get too much,
And learn that it doesn’t matter how much you do care about,
Some people simply don’t care at all.
And you accept that it doesn’t matter how good a person is,
She will hurt you…

Today was nice

My oatmeal was good

English class was cancelled and just had to hand in my masterpiece paper

Math put things into perspective for the test

Mz.Betty was funny at lunch

There were delicious free publix sugar sprinkle cookies on the patio!!!!

The gym was great! I’m getting sooo much stronger 😀

Dinner was great with frosted flakes, SUSHI! and Megan ❤

Then got 3 hours of studying in for math at the library, it was very productive and I realized I’m getting most of it. There was also a nice, interesting guy that sat next to me and started conversation. He was very friendly, really cool too.

One of my floormates at the library got up and offered me delicious kettle corn. Wish I hadn’t been so full. I hated to deny that.

I got to see nice friends more than I usually do in one day and it was nice.

Today just had a lot of nice little surprises. (:

Today was a good day.

woke up and brushed the dreams off,

yummy breakfast,

active english class,

hilarious and easy-enough math class,

delicious avocado chicken salad at lunch…and brownie,

got my advising apointment,

great gym day,

got a lunch box that I was sad about missing out on,

delicious dinner with the faves!

laughing at the teacher in hannah’s bio class,

scrumptious sea salt and almond dark chocolate,

good news from the cute guy about the computer lab job,

I feel good today.

It was nice. (:

This is my time to shine and i’m not wasting it anymore on people who want to stand in the way of my light.

So it begins

I got to be with friends and loved ones. Shared laughs and smiles. Learned how to pick strawberries the right way (; with the greatest roommate. Saw the first movie that I actually didn’t want to end. And ate the most amazing ribs and shared more laughter at the restaurant.

Things hurt right now. But I’m gonna keep focusing on what I’m grateful for and what I do have. It’s my time to move ahead.
